Mind control technology which could turn humans into mindless ‘cyborg’ super-consumers successfully tested on rats

24.4.2018 South Korean scientists have developed a mind control system that turns mice into ‘cyborgs’ who act like human shopaholics.

A team working at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology have discovered that stimulating a certain part of a mouse’s brain triggers a ‘craving’ for unnecessary objects.

Whilst the researchers hailed this discovery as a way of treating brain disorders such as kleptomania and compulsive hoarding, they also admitted it could be used to ‘control human behaviour’.

‘When we stimulate a neuron in the hypothalamus of mice, they anxiously chased target objects,’ said Professor Daesoo Kim, a neuroscientist in the university’s department of biological sciences.

‘We found evidence that the neural circuits in the medial preoptic area (MPA) modulate ‘object craving,” the appetite for possessing objects.’
